Given the record numbers of people within employment; (figures released by the Office for National Statistics reveal the number  of people in work remains at a record high of 32.7m), I was surprised to read that over half of employees are feeling unhappy within their current role and that salary is still considered the biggest motivator.

Shouldn't employers be doing more to retain top talent? In my view, organisations should consider the range of benefits, rather than salary alone.  Employees increasingly expect a range of non-financial benefits, such as flexible working and clear career development pathways or opportunities to up-skill. Time to truly think about soft benefits as a core part of the offer.  Not a nice to have.
